Abstract :
The intensity ratio between Stokes and anti-Stokes light scattering in the low-frequency region has been investigated for liquid carbon disulfide. The spectra show symmetric lineshape about the excitation frequency in the region less than several wavenumber. The maximum frequency ωsym of the region where the ratio becomes unity increases with increasing temperature. In a measured temperature range, ωsym is less than the spectral width of the relaxational mode, indicating that the condition for the Markovian limit is satisfied only in the region of ω<ωsym for the relaxational mode of liquid CS2.
