Abstract
The luminescence of gold(I) complex [{–Ph2P(CH2)2Ph2–AuNC5H4C5H4NAu–}x]2x+ [CF3CO2−]2x, in the solid state has been studied by soft X-ray excited optical luminescence and near-edge X-ray absorption fine structures at the C K-edge and we find that the origin of the luminescence is primarily from the 4,4′-bipyridine ligand facilitated by gold(I)–ligand interaction.
