A possibility of distinguishing the inhomogeneous broadening via coherent Raman spectra

An alternative possibility of determining the inhomogeneous broadening based on the excitation spectra of the coherent Raman scattering, coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) and coherent Stokes Raman scattering (CSRS) is proposed. By using the transform relations between the coherent Raman scattering and the absorption, it is shown that in the case of a Gaussian distribution of inhomogeneities, the inhomogeneous broadening can directly be determined from the difference in CARS and CSRS intensities.
