Abstract
Temperature quenching of the photoluminescence at 3.0-eV (F-centers) and 3.8-eV (F+-centers) in α-Al2O3 single crystals after a photothermal treatment was studied. Manifestation of the compensation effect, which is related to a consistent change of quenching parameters, was revealed. The isokinetic temperatures Ti were calculated to be equal to 384 K (3.0-eV emission) and 394 K (3.8-eV emission). The difference image corresponded to temperature shift between thermoluminescence maximums at the emission bands under discussion.
