Abstract :
Field emission display (FED) is an excellent candidate for next generation display. Phosphor layer plays an important role in FED. In this study, solid-state reaction method is used to fabricate the (Y2−xTbx)O2S (x=0.001, 0.0025, 0.005, 0.01, 0.025, and 0.05) phosphors. X-ray power diffraction, crystal structure refinement, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and cathodoluminescence spectroscopy are employed to investigate the structural and optical properties. The bluish-white emission of this phosphor is believed to be due to the transitions from 5Dj to 7Fj states of the terbium ion. However, details of relationship between the doping concentration of terbium in yttrium oxysulfide have not been investigated. In this study, the variation of color as a function of terbium concentration in yttrium oxysulfide is studied by both photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence, which may be important for the application in the field of FED.
