Abstract :
Small sized Y0.94−xMxVO4:Eu0.06 (M=Zn, Al, Bi) red-emitting phosphors are synthesized by the solution combustion method. Y0.94−xMxVO4:Eu0.06 (M=Zn, Al, Bi) phosphors have the tetragonal crystal structure. The strong excitation bands centered at 147 nm and 160 nm are attributed to the intramolecular transition. The emission spectra have strong peak at 619 nm which are caused by the electric dipole 5D0→7F2 transition. With the increase of x values in Y0.94−xMxVO4:Eu0.06 (M=Zn, Al, Bi) powder, the emission intensity of Eu3+ increases due to the increase of energy transfer probability from VO43+ to Eu3+. The Y0.94−xAlxVO4:Eu0.06 system exhibits higher emission intensity than those of the Y0.94−xZnxVO4:Eu0.06 and Y0.94−xBixVO4:Eu0.06 doped system under vacuum ultra violet (VUV) region.
