Abstract
Yeast, a new pore former, was adopted to fabricate porous SiC ceramics for the first time. The dispersion and stability of slurry were found to depend strongly on the content of glycerol. In this work, the change of components of porous SiC ceramics in sintering process has been investigated in detail. It was also found that sintering behavior of porous SiC ceramics showed a great difference with the change of the content of sintering aid (Al2O3) and the optimal content of Al2O3 was 5–10 wt.%. In addition, the sintering temperature and hold time had great influence on sintering properties of porous SiC ceramics.
