Abstract :
Planning and scheduling production processes in a steel mill are very difficult tasks due to the nature of the technological processes realized during production. A system model including technological and transport devices as well as a system for collection and transmission of information about the realized production processes is necessary for conducting studies in the scope of planning and scheduling production processes. Modeling of production systems with the purpose of conducting simulations, making it possible to determine the optimal material and semi-finished product transfer routes between devices of the process line, is generally difficult. This problem is particularly complicated in the case of modeling a steel production system. This is due to the nature of the operation of most of the main process devices and the limited capability of storage of semi-finished products for a period longer than those strictly defined.
