Abstract :
The oxidation of TiN-containing composites has been discussed from theoretical aspect based on the experimental data available in the literature. Although the experimental results show that the oxidation behavior is a complicated process involving different phases and oxidation mechanisms, it is diffusion controlled essentially. Therefore Chouʹs model has been employed to deal with the oxidation of TiN-containing composites. To describe more closely the oxidation behavior of TiN-containing composites, the factor of the sample shape has been taken into consideration. A good agreement has been found between the experimental results and theoretical calculation. In addition, a comparison of calculation errors has been given between our new model and the traditional model used in the literature.
