Abstract :
2M-wollastonite crystals have been produced through a top-cooled flux growth process. The product indicated cellular growth consisting of individual crystals with highly preferred growth orientation. Such a product yielded high aspect ratio particles after being crushed into fine powder. Under appropriate conditions, fine particles with mean aspect ratios of 8–20 were obtained. An in situ analysis method based on LA-ICP-MS technique was applied to analyze the compositions of multi-phase microstructures containing even trace amounts of Li and B, which are difficult to detect by other techniques.
