Abstract :
MoO3 submicron belts and MoO2 submicron spheres have been synthesized by a polyethylene glycol-assisted hydrothermal method. XRD and SEM images of the products illustrate that MoO3 submicron belts are about tens of micrometers in length and several hundreds of nanometers in diameter. The products are gradually changed from belt-shaped MoO3 to spherical MoO2 with increasing polyethylene glycol as both protective and reducing agent. The products exhibit good responses to acetone and ethanol.
