Abstract
White-emitting phosphors Ba5CaAl4O12:Dy3+ have been synthesized by a solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction, photoluminescence excitation and emission spectra, as well as the effect of Dy3+ concentration were investigated in detail. Upon 348 nm excitation, the emission of Dy3+ ions is observed at 481 nm (blue) and 574 nm (yellow), corresponding to 4F9/2→6H15/2 and 4F9/2→6H13/2 transitions, respectively. With increasing the doped Dy3+ concentration in Ba5CaAl4O12:Dy3+ phosphors, the yellow-to-blue intensity (Y/B) ratio increases gradually. Furthermore, the CIE color coordinates can be adjusted around white light by changing the doped Dy3+ concentration. When co-doping with Na+ as charge compensator, the emission intensity of Ba5CaAl4O12:Dy3+ increases obviously. The optimal doped Na+ concentration is 4 mol% for Ba5Ca0.96Al4O12:0.04Dy3+ samples.
