Abstract
The amount of dissolved 137Cs (Q1) and 134Cs (Q2) radionuclides in the Black Sea during 1986 and 1992 was calculated from data obtained from radioecological surveys. The estimates were made by a special regularization method based on the spectral representation of the concentrations of radioactive fields. Such an approach offers greater accuracy and less sensitivity to uniformly-spaced data than traditional finite-difference techniques. It was found that for the indicated time period the amount of dissolved 137Cs was reduced by approximately 1.99 PBq (53.7 kCi).
