Chlordane residues in marine biota and sediment from an intertidal sandbank in Manukau Harbour, New Zealand

Low levels of chlordane residues were determined in several species of mollusc and polychaetes and in a shallow sediment core from an intertidal sandbank. Chlordane levels were lowest in surface sediments and increased with increasing sediment depth. Total chlordane levels were similar in all molluscs (91–117 ng (g lipid)−1), but were twice as high in the polychaetes (202 ng (g lipid)−1).
