On-line determination of total nitrogen in natural sea water samples by alkaline persulphate oxidation

An on-line method for the determination of total nitrogen in natural seawater samples is described. The method, based on persulphate oxidation in an alkaline medium, shows a good precision and reduces the risk of sample contamination. Quantitative recoveries of total nitrogen from organic solutions are obtained.
