Abstract
The magnetic susceptibility and the 63,65Cu nuclear quadrupole resonance have been measured in the quasi-one-dimensional cuprate Ca0.85CuO2 which contains edge-sharing CuO2 chains separated by Ca layers. The behaviors of the magnetic susceptibility and the 63Cu nuclear spin–lattice relaxation rate are well explained by assuming the coexistence of an antiferromagnetic ordering and spin gap states which can be realized in the hole doped 1D Cu–O chain.
