Abstract :
Measurements of resistivity, magnetization, Seebeck coefficient in 0 and 1.5 T and Nernst coeffecient in 0.3, 0.9 and 1.8 T as a function of temperature on a polycrystalline sample Sm0.55Sr0.45MnO3 are presented. The data demonstrate that an increase in both the carrier density and the mobility of the charge carriers is responsible for the observed colossal magnetoresistance in this compound.
