Abstract :
The effect of high-energy milling of arsenic sulphide As4S4 on its phase transition has been studied. The transition of α-As4S4 to the high-temperature β-As4S4 as well as the formation of As4S4 nanosize powder (16–48 nm) has been described. The presence of β-As4S4 has been proven by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy. The fine particles were characterized by measurement of specific surface area and particle size distribution.
