Photoluminescence of tetrameric platinum(II) acetate in solution

Tetrameric Pt(II) acetate shows a photoluminescence in solution at λmax=510 nm and 630 nm which is assigned to a metal-centered fluorescence (τ<5 ns) and phosphorescence (τ=1.8 μs), respectively. It is suggested that in the emissive excited state the metal–metal bonds are weakened.
