Photooxidation of N,N′-bis(3,5-di-tert.-butylsalicylidene)-1,2-diamino hexane-manganese(III) chloride (Jacobsen catalyst) in chloroform

MnIII(J-salen)Cl (Jacobsen catalyst) with J-salen=N,N′-bis(3,5-di-tert.-butylsalicylidene)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane dianion in CHCl3 is photooxidized by the solvent to a MnIV(J-salen) complex, presumably MnIV(J-salen)Cl2, with φ=0.002 at λirr=333 nm.
