Abstract :
X-ray quality single crystals of [Cd(CH3COO)(paba)(H2O)]·H2O (Hpaba = 4-aminobenzoic acid) were grown by gel diffusion technique. The grown crystals are characterized by CHN analysis, Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) and UV–visible spectral studies and thermogravimetry (TG). The crystalline nature of the compound was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction studies. The structure of the grown crystal was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction technique. The compound crystallizes in monoclinic space group P21/n and is having a polymeric structure. The porous nature of the compound is also evident from the structural studies. The fluorescent properties of the ligand and the compound were also investigated.
