Abstract
Melamine (1a), 2,4-diamino-6-phenyl-1,3,5-triazine (1b), and 2,4-diamino-6-methyl-triazine (1c) react with chlorotrimethylsilane and triethylamine in refluxing acetonitrile to give the corresponding monosilylated products 2a–c in good yields. Conversion of 2a–c to the lithium silylamides with n-BuLi occurs readily, as evidenced by a subsequent reaction with chlorodimethylsilane. The silylamides show promise as chelating ligands with the possibility of multi-coordination bonding modes.
