Abstract :
A novel Sm–Co coordination polymer constructed by orotic acid (2,6-dioxo-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid, H3dtpc) and oxalate (ox2−), {[Sm2Co(ox)2(Hdtpc)2(H2O)6]·2H2O}n (1), was prepared by metal-mediated oxidation–hydrolysis of orotic acid in a hydrothermal reaction. Crystallographic data for 1: triclinic, space group P−1 with a=8.2266(4), b=9.2895(4), c=9.7934(5) Å, α=75.347(1), β=69.708(1), γ=72.665(2)°, V=660.66(5) Å3, Z=2, Dc=2.4832 g/cm3. Magnetic susceptibility measurement for 1 is consistent with the existence of weak anti-ferromagnetic interaction.
