Abstract :
A series of V(IV) complexes with 4-substituted salen ligands, formulated as [VO((4-CnH2n+1O)2salen)] (n=12 (1), 14 (2), 16 (3), 18 (4), and 20 (5)), which formed a novel biomembrane-like bilayer crystal structure, exhibited an unprecedented bilayer mesophase having symmetry Pa21 in the layers.
