The first organometallic carbonyl tungsten complex of antibacterial drug norfloxacin

Hydrothermal reaction of W(CO)6, norfloxacin (H-Norf) and dilute sodium hydroxide solution in a sealed Pyrex tube results in the formation of [W(H2O)(CO)3(H-Norf)] · (H-Norf) · H2O (1) which is stable toward air and moisture. Antibacterial effect of 1 is possibly superior to that of H-Norf.
