Re(I)(tricarbonyl)+ complexes with anionic N∩S− thioxalato ligand

Reaction of Re(CO)5Cl with 8-thiohydroxyquinoline hydrochloride (HSX × HCl) afforded the dimeric Re2(CO)6(SX)2 complex with the structure supported by X-ray crystallography. Re2(CO)6(SX)2 reacts with boiling pyridine giving monomeric product Re(CO)3(SX)(pyr). The UV–Vis absorption and emission properties of the new image complexes have been discussed and compared with the properties of analogical species with the N∩O− ligands.
