Synthesis, molecular structures and norbornene addition polymerization activity of the neutral nickel catalysts supported by N-naphthyl-salicylaldiminato ligands

A series of nickel Schiff-base complexes were synthesized by the reaction of Schiff-bases containing N-naphththyl group with trans-[Ni(PPh3)2(Ph)Cl] and they were characterized by EA, IR and NMR. When activated by methylaluminoxane, these complexes exhibit good catalytic activity for the addition polymerization of norbornene.
