Isolation and authentication of a sodium bispyrazolylaluminate

Reaction of [Na(Me2pz)(thf)]4 (2) with [(Me2pz)AlMe2]2 in THF generates sodium bispyrazolylaluminate [Na{Al(Me2pz)2Me2}]∞ (1), the first example of a structurally characterized aluminum analog of a polypyrazolylborate. The X-ray structure of complex 1 shows in the solid state unusual Na–CH3–Al bridges and pyrazolyl η5-coordination to sodium.
