Solid structure and photoluminescence of zinc(II) multiplex with heptadentate salicylideneamine as primary ligand

Treatment of the methanolic solution of 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-1,3-bis[4-(2-hydroxy-phenyl)-3-azabut-3-enyl]-1,3- imidazoline (H3L) and ZnSO4 · 7H2O affords the solvated multiplex [Zn2(SO4)(L)]2[Zn(H2O)6] · 3H2O · 0.75CH3OH (1) which uniquely contains anionic dizinc complexes of L3− as components and shows photoluminescence at room temperature.
