Abstract
1H NMR spectra reveal the presence of 1:1 complexes of cobalt(II) and tpy (tpy = 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine) in solution and a solid-state structural determination of Co(tpy)(OAc)2 · 0.5H2O reveals the presence of hydrogen-bonded dinuclear units with both mono- and bidentate acetate ligands.
