Abstract
A new neutral layered borate B3O4(OH)(C4N2H10)0.5 (denoted BO-CJ 38) has been solvothermally synthesized. The piperazine molecules act as organic ligand and strcuture-directing agent. The left- and right-handed helical B–O–B chains are linked together via piperazine molecules to form infinite organic–inorganic hybrid layers. The aromatic piperazine molecules may play an important role in the formation of helical inorganic chains.
