Abstract
The reduction of silyl substituted iodobenzenes 4-Ph3Si–C6H4–I (1) and Me2Si(–C6H4–4–I)2 (2) with activated calcium yields sparingly soluble 4-Ph3Si–C6H4–Ca(thf)4I (3) and moderate soluble Me2Si[–C6H4–4-Ca(thf)4I]2 (4). The molecular structures of 1 and 2 and a structural motif of 4 are presented.
