Abstract :
A novel two-dimensional grid dimeric manganese(III) tetradentate Schiff-base complex, {[Mn4(salen)4(C4H4O4)](ClO4)2}n 1, (salen = N,N′-ethylene-bis-salicylideneaminato, C4H4O4 = succinic acid), has been synthesized and structurally characterized. X-ray structure analysis reveals that in 1, succinic acid acts as a tetradentate ligand, each linking four [Mn2(salen)2]2+ moieties via carboxyl O atoms into a 2D unique net containing 30-membered cyclic centrosymmetrical polygonal grids.
