Abstract :
A novel Cd(II) complex with unusual 2D assembly of the paddle wheel Cd2(COO)4 units, [Cd(μ5-1,8-nap)]n (1,8-nap = naphthalene-1,8-dicarboxylate) (1), has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR spectrum, luminescent analysis and thermal analysis. It displays strong blue fluorescent emission in the solid state.
