Abstract :
An unusual formate-bridged heterobimetallic binuclear CrIIIMnIII porphyrin complex has been synthesized unexpectedly based on the building blocks K[Cr(bpb)(CN)2] [bpb2− = 1,2-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamido)benzenate] and [Mn(TClPP)(H2O)2]ClO4 [H2TClPP = meso-tetra(4-chlorophenyl)porphyrin]. The complex with the formula [Cr(bpb)(CN)(CO2H)Mn(TClPP)(CH3OH)]·2CH3OH (1) has been characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR and X-ray structure determination. The magnetic coupling between the Cr(III) and Mn(III) ions in the title compound was found to be antiferromagnetic with JMnCr = −1.89(2) cm−1 on the basis of the Hamiltonian image.
