Abstract :
A new two-dimensional layered cadmium sulfide framework MSF-5 based on a capped-supertetrahedral C1 cluster [Cd17S4(SPhMe-4)27(SH)]2− has been synthesized. MSF-5 possesses a 3-connected 63–hcb net, in which each C1 cluster connects through Cd–S(PhMe-4)–Cd covalent bonds with three neighboring clusters to form a 2D superlattice with 6-membered rings. The 2D sheets stack over each other to form a 3D network. MSF-5 has high thermal stability and is a wide-gap semiconductor.
