Abstract :
The zirconocene alkyne complex rac-(ebthi)Zr(η2-Me3SiC2SiMe3) (1) reacts with 1,4-bis-tert-butyl-buta-1,3-diyne to yield the novel five-membered metallacyclocumulene rac-(ebthi)Zr(η4-t-Bu-C4-t-Bu) (2) (ebthi = 1,2-ethylene-1,1′-bis(η5-tetrahydroindenyl)), t-Bu = tert-butyl). The structure of 2 was confirmed by X-ray studies.
