Abstract :
The coordination chemistry towards the Au(III) metal centre of the pyridine-triazole ligands 2-[(4-phenyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)methyl]pyridine (pytzPh) and 2-[(4-pentyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)methyl]pyridine (pytzPent) has been explored and complexes having formulae AuCl3(pytzPh) (1Ph) and AuCl3(pytzPent) (1Pent) have been isolated and characterised. Reaction of 1Ph with AgClO4 allowed the preparation of the compound [AuCl2(pytzPh)](ClO4) (2Ph). Reaction of 1Ph and 1Pent with K[AuCl4]·2H2O led to the formation of the salts [HpytzPh][AuCl4] (3Ph) and [HpytzPent][AuCl4] (3Pent).
