Abstract :
A new cluster [Fe8(μ4-O)3(teaH)3(tea)(IBA)6(H2O)3](NO3)3·3H2O (1) (teaH3 = triethylolamine, IBA = isobutyric acid) was synthesized and structurally characterized. The octanuclear cluster is constructed by three Fe4 tetrahedrons via sharing the edges. Magnetic susceptibility measurement indicates that the antiferromagnetic couplings exist between adjacent FeIII centers with zero spin ground state. Cyclic voltammogram exhibit an irreversible redox process.
