Abstract :
Interaction of new potentially tetradentate trianionic chelating ligands [H3-4Me-amsal-R=3-aza-4-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-N-(2-hydroxy-4-methylphenyl)but-3-enamide, R=H; 5Cl; 5Br; 3OEt; 3OMe,5Br; 3,5Cl; 3,5Br; 3Br,5Cl; 3Br,5NO2] with manganese has been investigated employing an electrochemical method. This method leads to the formation of neutral manganese(III) complexes in high yield and purity. These neutral manganese complexes have been thoroughly characterised by elemental analysis, infrared and paramagnetic 1H NMR spectroscopy, fast atom bombardment (FAB) mass spectrometry, magnetic susceptibility measurements and cyclic voltammetry.
