Abstract :
A new 3D structure is reported with bridging ligands and anions of formula [Cu(pm)(A)2]n(CH3CN)n (where pm=pyrimidine, A=dicyanamide) together with its spectroscopic and magnetic properties. The 3D structure is built from independent chains in three directions using bridging pm ligands [CuCu distance of 5.828(1) Å] and bridging A ligands [CuCu distance of 7.841(1) Å]. The centrosymmetric CuN6 chromophore is an axially elongated octahedron which has CuN distances varying from 1.983(2) to 2.404(2) Å. The holes in the lattice are filled with acetonitrile molecules. No significant magnetic coupling between the Cu(II) ions is observed down to 5 K.
