Abstract :
The reaction of CuSO4·5H2O, Na3VO4,1,10-phenanthroline and ethylene diphosphonate in water at 180 °C for 41.5 h produces [Cu(phen)(VO2)(HPO3CH2CH2PO3)] (1) in 60–65% yield. The one-dimensional (1-D) ribbon is constructed of {V2P4O4C4} corner-sharing rings, which are further decorated and charge balanced by {Cu(phen)}2+ square pyramids. Crystal data: C14H13N2CuVP2O8; Triclinic, ; a=7.8824(5) Å, b=10.6119(7) Å, c=11.3590(7) Å, α=107.787(1)°, β=105.384(1)°, γ=98.806(1)°, V=843.47(9) Å3, Z=2, Dcalc=2.023 g cm−3; R1=0.0478 based on 3945 reflections.
