Abstract :
The primary vinylidene complex [Cp*(DPVP)2RuCCH2]PF6 (Cp*η5-C5Me5, DPVPPh2PCHCH2) was prepared by reaction of [Cp*Ru(η1-DPVP)(η3-DPVP)]PF6 with HCCSiMe3. The complex was characterized by X-ray crystallography, room temperature 1H, 13C{1H}, and 31P{1H} NMR spectroscopy, and variable-temperature 31P{1H} and 1H{31P} NMR spectroscopy. The vinylidene barrier to rotation is very low (⩽6.7 kcal mol−1).
