Abstract :
The aluminum-bound ferrocene complex, [Fe(η5-C5H4)2]2Al3Me5 (4), has been isolated and structurally characterized. 4 derives from metathesis between dilithiated ferrocene and AlMe2Cl. The stoichiometry of the reaction is satisfied by elimination of AlMe3 as its tetramethylenediamine (TMEDA) adduct.
