One pot synthesis of a TpRu carbene: Formation and structural characterization of neutral alkylidene complex [TpRu(double bond; length as m-dashCHPh)(PMeiPr2)Cl]

The new ruthenium(II) complex [TpRu(double bond; length as m-dashCHPh)(PMeiPr2)Cl] (1) was obtained by a straightforward and quick method heating at 70 °C during 2 h a mixture of [TpRu(PMeiPr2)2Cl] with an excess of N2CHPh in toluene/benzene. According to an X-ray structural analysis complex 1 crystallized with N,N′-dibenzylidene-hydrazine as solvate.
