Unexpected synthesis and structural characterization of Pt(II)Cl2-1,5-hexadiene from reaction of allyl chloride and K2PtCl4

An unexpected, new and convenient synthetic procedure for the synthesis of Pt(II)Cl2-1,5-hexadiene is reported which is done under mild conditions, including a very short reaction time of 10 min. The complex was isolated and crystallized, leading to the first reported crystal structure of the diene complex.
