Abstract :
For determination of traction properties of a wheeled tractor vehicle, it is essential to determine directions and values of power flow through the wheels. These in turn depend on the forces and moments applied to a given wheel as well as the type and condition of the ground under the wheel. By analyzing the wheelʹs performance from this perspective, it is possible to determine the wheelʹs efficiency and, consequently, the traction efficiency of a whole vehicle, which then enables determination of loads on all elements of the tractorʹs driving system. This analysis is also helpful when considering issues related to the control of engaging each of the driving axles and differential gear locks.
a theoretical analysis of the power flow through the wheel is performed. Next, the results of this analysis were tested under laboratory and field conditions in order to validate the theoretical assumptions made.
