Abstract :
The present paper extends existing design formulae [Int. J. Solid Struct. 17 (1981) 827; J. Compos. Struct. 47 (1999) 737] for composite repairs to cracked metallic skins to include the bonded repair of rib stiffened wing skins. These design formulae are validated by comparison with the results of a series of 3D finite element studies and an experimental test program.
