Abstract :
Determining the stress concentration factor for a fiber-reinforced viscoelastic plate is given using the method of effective moduli. The plate is weakened by an oval or crack opening and deformed by forces applied to its middle plane. Problems of tension and pure bending of a structurally anisotropic composite plate with an oval opening or crack are presented. The effects due to the relaxation function, time and constitutive parameters on the hoop stresses are investigated. The maximum hoop stress are given at certain places near the opening according to the forces applied. A comparison is made between results when the small oval opening tends to a crack.
