Abstract :
Synchrotron based X-ray diffraction through a diamond anvil cell was used to determine the equations of state and pressure-induced phase transitions in Bi2MoO6. It was observed that Bi2MoO6 undergoes a phase transformation at ∼6.8 GPa. The high-pressure phase can be indexed to the orthorhombic structure and the transition is reversible on decompression from ∼47 GPa. The bulk moduli of the low and high-pressure phases were calculated, while holding K′=4, to be: K=51±1 GPa and K=141.5 ±0.1 GPa, respectively.
